Cyprus 'Meze' Nights
Cyprus 'Meze' is a combination of at least 25 different dishes served over a period of 2 and a half hours. The evening starts around 8pm when everyone arrives for drinks. We split the food into 3 sections - the cold and hot appetizers are served first with pitta bread.
To follow the appetizers is the fish course and last of all is the meat course - which is served with a traditional Cypriot salad and rice. Once you have managed to come this far, then fresh fruit is served followed by tea or coffee.
Traditional Greek dancing follows with everyone trying their hand at 'Zorba' made famous by Anthony Quinn in the movie Zorba The Greek.
The food served on the night is traditional Cypriot food. Great care and time goes into preparation. The meat course is cooked on our barbecues in our courtyard on the night on
real coal; the stuffed vine leaves are wrapped with the leave from my parents' grape vines. The Sea Bass is fresh from Greece which is slowly poached in our oven.
It will definitely be a night to remember and one not to forget, so why not come along one night and sample a taste of Cypriot cuisine and entertainment.
